Maze generator

Pick a shape, a size and a difficulty, then print a maze and its solution.

Make a maze

  1. Open the maze generator from All tools and sign in with Google, Microsoft or a code we email you.
  2. Pick a shape: square, circle, heart or star.
  3. Pick a size and a difficulty. S is 8 by 8 cells, M is 12 by 12 and L is 16 by 16; easy keeps long corridors and hard turns at almost every cell.
  4. Press Build maze, then choose A4 or Letter and press Print or Download PDF: page 1 is the maze and page 2 is its solution.

The same maze again

  • The seed in the Seed field sets the maze: the same seed and settings give the same maze on any device.
  • Press Shuffle for a new seed and a new maze with the same settings.
  • To print a maze a colleague made, type their seed, pick their settings and press Build maze.

Good to know

  • Every maze has exactly one path from Start to End, and the path never crosses the outline of a heart or a star.
  • The solution prints in grey on page 2, under a marigold rule. To hand out the maze alone, choose page 1 only in the print dialog.
  • Your settings stay on this device until you sign out.
