Spelling worksheet generator

Type your spelling words, then print the exercises, a test and the word list.

Make a spelling sheet

  1. Open the spelling worksheet generator from All tools and sign in with Google, Microsoft or a code we email you.
  2. Type your words in Spelling words, one per line or with commas. Up to 30 words fit on one sheet.
  3. Tick the exercises you want: trace, unscramble, missing letters, write three times and the test.
  4. Pick the level. KG prints the largest letters, Grades 1 and 2 a little smaller, and Grade 3 and up the size of a book.
  5. Press Build sheet, then choose A4 or Letter and press Print or Download PDF. The word list comes last as the key.

The test

  • The test page has a numbered line for each word and shows no word. Read the words aloud in the order of the word list.
  • Every exercise numbers the words in the same order, so the one word list is the key to all of them.

Good to know

  • Missing letters leaves out about a third of the letters of each word, never the first. Press Shuffle to leave out other letters and mix up the words again.
  • Hindi conjuncts and letters with accent marks always stay together.
  • Your word list is saved to your items and opens on every device you sign in on.
