Type your words, then print a word search and its answer key.
Make a word search
- Open the word search generator from All tools and sign in with Google, Microsoft or a code we email you.
- Give the puzzle a title, then type one word per line, or put commas between them.
- Choose the grid size and the word directions, then press Build puzzle. 8 to 15 words fit a 15 by 15 grid, and a list can hold 25 words.
- Choose A4 or Letter, then press Print with answer key or Download PDF: page 1 is the puzzle and the last page is the answer key.
When a word does not fit
- Words that cannot be placed are named above the preview, and the rest of the puzzle stays.
- Shorten or replace the word, or press Shuffle layout to try another layout.
- A word longer than the grid needs a larger grid: choose up to 20 by 20.
Good to know
- Across, Down and Diagonal set the lines words can run along. Backwards lets them also run from the last letter to the first.
- Your word list is saved to your items and opens on every device you sign in on. Print or download the puzzle to keep it.
- Words in any script work; the other letters in the grid come from the same script.
